The government of Nepal is considering including tea in a list of products for which it plans to apply for duty-free access under the US Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), potentially providing a boost to the country's tea industry. The previous GSP system, which is aimed at promoting economic growth in the world's least developed countries, expired on July 31, and the US government has asked relevant countries to apply for renewed duty-free access for their products by October 4.
